THE PUBLIC Diplomacy Council held a book launch for Local Voices/Global Perspectives: Challenges Ahead for U.S. International Media at the National Press Club on April 4. This new anthology, edited by former Voice of America deputy director Alan Heil, Jr., contains must-read advice for the next administration and Congress to help U.S. public diplomacy compete in a “global marketplace of ideas.” The book features contributions from 22 specialists in the media field, including nationally known broadcasters and scholars, who describe how to retool U.S. publicly funded international broadcasting to adjust to an interactive, online, 21st century communications world.
To order the books ($19.95 each), contact the Public Diplomacy Council, at <pdi410@gwu.edu> or (202) 994-0389.
